14:17 willkg pythonian4000afk: just used your logs to find out you said that when i wasn't on.  :)
14:20 pythonian4000afk: thank you for doing the logging--this will help a ton.

15:26 paulproteus janetPCF: What is the relationship between https://develop.participatoryc[…]/ConversionMatrix and the actual code?
15:26 janetPCF That's where we fleshed out the commands for MVC -
15:26 paulproteus People manually synchronize things back and forth?
15:27 janetPCF Miro generally uses the same commands as MVC
15:27 paulproteus I mean, if the Miro Video Converter (MVC) code changes over time, does that wiki page get updated?
15:27 janetPCF Mainly the MVC devs wanted a place to look for the correct commands - plus if people have questions they can see what we are doing
15:27 yes - the page does get updated
15:27 right now -there's two sets current, and proposed.
15:28 If have suggestions to make them better you should go for it.
15:28 paulproteus It would be nice if that page indicated as much; I can write the text, but wanted to be sure I knew the right things to say.
15:28 Sounds great.
15:30 janetPCF I'd put any suggested changes in the proposed section
15:31 paulproteus I only want to improve the page's style, not the content. Do you mean that should go in "proposed", too?
15:31 (like writing up top -- "Hello! Here's what this page is about")
15:31 janetPCF oh sure - that's fine
15:32 paulproteus Cool. I'm going to get dressed, and then make a plan for the day, and see where this all fits in!
15:32 janetPCF No - I just meant the commands
15:33 style away - it was just a bland trac doc before
15:33 willkg paulproteus, janetPCF: feel free to use the Talk section of the page.
15:33 janetPCF Oh - that's a good idea
15:34 paulproteus willkg: Currently I intend to use the non-talk side of the page to improve the style, so that people are immediately welcomed. Anyway, back in a bit.
15:34 janetPCF I have to good make dinner - forget about that and the kids will be home soon.  back later
15:35 paulproteus:  maybe in making the page better, you can tell people to use the talk section to update commands or add commands for suggested devices we dont' currently support
15:35 for new devices though, they should make a bugzilla bug too, or it could just get lost.
15:38 z3p paulproteus: you mentioned looking into ffmpeg licensing stuff, right?
15:38 paulproteus z3p: ya
15:38 z3p paulproteus: okay

15:58 willkg paulproteus: i have a question...  are you working on the 1.1.2 target for miro community right now?
16:00 paulproteus willkg: I, er, guess so. I haven't been really thinking about version numbers.
16:00 willkg paulproteus: how does miro community get "deployed"?  is it in version bundles or are you switching to a weekly deployment or what?
16:01 paulproteus I'm doing my first deployment today, actually.
16:01 Once I nail down the tech details, I'll then work on nailing down the sort of cultural details.
16:01 willkg paulproteus: the reason i ask is that i have a section in the dev call notes for versions of things we're working on.  if you're not working on versions, i can drop the MC section.  i'm game either way.
16:02 paulproteus Yeah, no versions right now. |:
16:02 willkg paulproteus: fair enough.  i'll drop it for now.  if we get into more of a structured deployment thing, then i can re-add it later.
16:02 paulproteus b
16:13 willkg paulproteus: at some point, i'd love to talk to you about making the dev call notes better.
16:13 paulproteus: but, i'm thinking maybe we can do that next week or some time after that.
16:18 paulproteus willkg: b

17:30 willkg bdk: sorry about that.  i'm going to push my half-baked extensions branch (which is still sort of in a research stage) now.  then you can see what i've got.
17:30 bdk: but, the answer to your emailed question is, yes, having a single api is what we want to do.  i've got it in a module which allows us to "translate" between the exposed api and how things really work internally.
17:31 bdk awesome
17:31 taking off for a sec to find lunch/wifi
17:31 willkg and i want to apologize again for working on extensions for over a year with no design doc.
17:32 the big reason was that i wanted to research and flesh out the problem domain.  didn't want to codify plans until that was done.
17:32 bdk seems okay to me.  Mostly you've been busy with other stuff
17:32 see you later
17:32 willkg but i screwed up and should have put stuff in writing ages ago.

20:56 paulproteus mattjohnson: I asked for more sysadmin power so I can deploy your new style to a public website.
20:57 mattjohnson k
21:04 paulproteus z3p: I guess if mattjohnson is working on the localtv_mainsite Python module, I can't really just update that within the localtv virtualenv, because that would affect the real mainsite.
21:05 So I suppose I could make a separate virtualenv in my $HOME on pcf-mcdev, or alternately I could deploy his version of localtv_mainsite on a different machine.
21:06 For now I lean toward the "separate virtualenv, but stay on pcf-mcdev" strategy.
