03:07 z3p willkg: no kidding! luckily, it seems like it was almost entirely property damage
03:07 willkg z3p: we just got some rain.  the whole thing slid by to the south of us.

19:27 willkg paulproteus: assume (because it's true) that miro is made up of two packages "miro" and "miro-data".  assume (because it's also true) that i want to ditch that and switch to one package.  do i add a "Replaces: miro-data" to the new one-package-to-rule-them-all?
19:27 paulproteus: i'm pretty sure it's a "Replaces:" but i'm not positive.  so i figured i'd ask.
19:38 paulproteus willkg: You want a Conflicts+Replaces pair, I believe.
19:38 I'll find the right part of the documentation.
19:40 http://www.debian.org/doc/debi[…]s.html#s-replaces 7.6.2 I think
19:40 willkg paulproteus: http://www.debian.org/doc/debi[…]-sourcebinarydeps
19:40 oh...  that's the page i found, too.
19:40 cool.
19:40 so i'll do a provides, conflicts, and replaces and test it out.
19:41 paulproteus I would skip "provides" since there is no virtual package here.
19:41 willkg ahh...  ok.
19:42 paulproteus deardiary: looking into http://bugzilla.pculture.org/s[…]_bug.cgi?id=17590 again
19:47 willkg yay!  discovered debian-changelog-mode .  that makes this so much eaiser.
19:54 zanoi does anyone know whether the sidebar always defaults to the same size no matter the screen/resolution?
19:59 vrivis joined #miro-hackers
19:59 vrivis Howdy.
20:01 ajonas hi vrivis
20:07 vrivis Anyone know how to stop Miro from putting a ".miro" folder in every available rood directory?  (Windoze.)
20:07 paulproteus Howdy vrivis.
20:08 Every "rood" directory?
20:08 (I don't know what that means.)
20:08 vrivis Root, sorry.  Distracted by grilled cheese sandwiches.
20:08 willkg vrivis: that's bug 17518: http://bugzilla.pculture.org/s[…]_bug.cgi?id=17518
20:08 vrivis: looks like z3p1 fixed it and the fix will come out in 4.0.2.
20:10 vrivis Well, at least now I know.  Though, really I don't care for it to go looking at anything other than where I would direct it.
20:10 willkg janetPCF1: speaking of 4.0.2...  do you want me to start doing nightly builds of the Miro-4.0 branch?
20:10 vrivis: then don't click on the "show all attached devices".
20:10 vrivis Ah, excellent.
20:11 willkg er, it's "Show all attached devices and drives".
20:11 when you enable that, miro goes out to figure out what devices and drives are floating around.
20:11 on windows it's hard to differentiate between external drives and internal drives.
20:12 so, miro has to look at everything to figure things out.
20:12 (at least, that's my understanding of the situation.)
20:13 vrivis Opening it now,  Okay, where's that setting?  Not seeing it.
20:14 willkg click on the Connect tab in the sidebar.  the checkbox is in the Devices section.
20:14 or something like that.  i'm not looking at the interface at the moment.
20:16 vrivis It's not checked to begin with.  So that doesn't seem to be the problem.
20:16 willkg z3p1: ^^^
20:16 it could be that miro needs to figure out which devices are usb devices to find your phones.
20:16 i do remember windows being a total pain in the ass for device support.
20:17 vrivis Yes, but I don't care about it wanting to sync with phones or any devices.  And it's not even checked, so?
20:17 * willkg shrugs.
20:17 willkg i don't know more about how that works.  so i can't really tell you much more.
20:18 vrivis No problem, I do appreciate the effort though.
20:18 willkg afk--baby.
20:20 vrivis Good to see that a bug was filed.  I'd have looked for it or filed one, except I'm too used to getting paid to do that sort of thing.
20:20 So, forgive my laziness.
20:21 Damned good grilled cheese sandiwiches.  Sorry I couldn't share.

20:43 paulproteus ajonas: There are two problems w/r/t http://bugzilla.pculture.org/s[…]_bug.cgi?id=17518
20:43 I think I have fixed the one causing the crash.
20:44 ajonas paulproteus: is that the right link?
20:44 paulproteus A separate issues is that we're freshly vidscraping the videos on import, rather than importing their data from the MC site feed (at least, that's how it looks from here).
20:44 Er, almost definitely not the right link.
20:44 http://bugzilla.pculture.org/s[…]_bug.cgi?id=17590
20:44 You probably aren't happy with us freshly vidscraping the videos, and want us to pull down any modified metadata from the MC site itself, I would guess.
20:44 ajonas paulproteus: that's good actually
20:44 paulproteus Oh, phew!
20:45 Less work for me.
20:45 ajonas oh wait
20:45 paulproteus Oh, wait.
20:45 ajonas sorry, let me see if i understand
20:45 paulproteus: which way does that work out?
20:45 paulproteus Right now, with the code on origin/master, we are freshly vidscraping.
20:45 ajonas paulproteus: right, but...what impact does that have?
20:46 paulproteus Scenario:
20:46 Day 0: Asheesh puts a video on Vimeo.
20:46 Day 1: Anne imports it into supersite.mirocommunity.org.
20:46 Day 2: Asheesh changes the title.
20:46 Day 3: Bob imports supersite.mirocommunity.org's new video feed into his MC
20:46 Which title should Bob get? With the freshly-vidscraping, Bob gets the current title of Asheesh's vimeo URL.
20:47 (Rather than the one that Anne has, which is a snapshot of a stale past.)
20:47 ajonas paulproteus: ok. i think the mc title is better, but the thing i'm more worried about
20:47 paulproteus: is the user
20:47 paulproteus I worry about users all the time.
20:47 ajonas paulproteus: ideally we'd show the youtube user, i think
20:47 paulproteus :P
20:47 ajonas haha
20:47 paulproteus (-:
20:48 I think that's what we'll do, yeah.
20:48 ...oh, I see.
20:48 No we won't; we'll show the MC site as the source.
20:48 Because that's where the video came from.
20:48 ajonas paulproteus: that's what i was afraid of - but that's for another ticket
20:48 paulproteus Phew!
20:48 ajonas paulproteus: i do think we should pull the title from the mc site, yeah, how bad is it?
20:49 paulproteus I was hoping you wouldn't say that. I can take a look right now.
20:50 ajonas paulproteus: sorry - if you think it makes sense i'm willing to say we can leave it as is for now and have changing it be a next step
20:50 paulproteus I'd much rather have that be a next step, yeah.
20:50 It's an independent ticket, backend-wise.
20:50 ajonas paulproteus: i do think it's important for full functionality but i also don't think anyone really needs it immediately
20:50 paulproteus: ok, fiar compromise
20:50 *fair
20:50 paulproteus: will you put that in a ticket?
20:52 paulproteus I need to get going for a couple of hours. 1.2.1-wise, my next tasks are to file these some tickets (this video user ticket; the video title being preserved, rather than re-scraped; write the ticket about doing better logging of which URLs are being scraped, so we can detect youtu.be-like problems).
20:53 I think that otherwise 1.2.1 is ready, and you can test and if you like it, I can deploy first thing tomorrow.
21:00 ajonas paulproteus: i can do the user one
21:01 paulproteus: when you say title preserved, does that also go for description and thumbnail and tags?
21:01 paulproteus: before we deploy can you go through the tickets and mark as verified any that don't need to be tested so we can get a clear look at what's going out?
21:04 paulproteus Yup, can do.
21:07 ajonas paulproteus: great, have a good night!

22:45 willkg drvodka: unsupported in the sense that i don't think we're going to create a 3.5.2.
22:45 drvodka: what's up?
22:46 drvodka well i upgraded to 3.5.1, and a lot stopped working, most was fixed by exporting opml, killing all settings and .miro dir, then restarting and reimporting, but it doesn't auto update every hour anymore
22:53 update all feeds works, and when i first start miro it does an update
22:53 just not the hourly anymore
