| 16:02 | jair | hello guys, I am having hard time getting the converter software in debian squeeze. I did install miro => apt-get install miro, but the converter portion is not on the system... :( |

| 16:08 | glee | jair: I don't think the version of Miro in squeeze has conversion support |
| 16:08 | jair | glee: hmmm, so I should build it from source? |
| 16:09 | glee: because you might be right, I don't see any of them on a pretty cool store close to my dormitori. | |
| 16:10 | glee | jair: Yes, alternatively I think testing has a recent version |
| 16:12 | jair: You should be able to build from source as-is if squeeze has the required dependencies for an updated version, but I'm not too entirely sure | |
| 16:12 | jair | glee: I am sorry wrong person for that last message |
| 16:12 | glee: I can give it a try | |
| 16:13 | I have it installed now but only does video playback, audio, and other simple stuff | |

| 16:37 | jair | glee: but I may not need to install miro at all if I install the ffmpeg2theora package and the ffmpeg one correct? |
| 16:37 | glee | jair: I'm not sure. What are you trying to do? |
| 16:39 | jair | I actullay trying to convert different types of videos to .ogg theora |
| 16:41 | glee | jair: Miro has a nice interactive interface for you to do it, or you can use ffmpeg and friends on the command line. Miro relies on those tools to do the heavy-lifting |
| 16:42 | jair | glee: right that is what I am testing right now and looks like it will work, I am ok with doing things through the command line |
| 16:43 | glee: so I may skip compiling and building stuff | |
| 16:43 | glee: but thank you so much for the advice and conversation :) | |
| 16:44 | glee | glee: no worries |
